JURY'S STATEMENT
The Hardware Award Winner is The Bergans Y Lightline Fastpack. The pack combines running vest technology with enough volume for hiking and a low weight (24 l, 360 g). »This makes it the perfect pack for all hikers who want to go light and fast«, explained one jury member. A unique compression system keeps the pack in place when moving at a high pace and the padded 3D-mesh back allows moisture to evaporate. Some more notable features are shoulder straps with removable water bottle and pack bag with roll top that allows to adjust the volume.
PRODUCT USP
Ultra lightweight high performance pack with a flexible storage volume. Y LightLine Fastpack M/L 1-24 is part of Bergans new top-level product line designed for rapid mountain hikes and high-output outdoor activities which covers larger distances with a large span in altitude.
PRIMARY INNOVATION FEATURES
Pack construction, rolltop opening and compression system allows the pack to perform equally well throughout a wide capacity range from 1 to 24 liter. The second generation RS3 stability system makes the pack move less when moving a lot. Coupled with the pack’s compression, the RS3 system reduces the pack’s movement by up to 35% (Bergans test) and can reduce muscle soreness and chafing in the neck and shoulder area. High-lift tubular hydrophobic mesh backpanel and airmesh vest-type harness provide ample ventilation.
Carrying system: Unique 3D mesh padded ventilated back panel that wicks away sweat and water. Bergans patented RS3; Rock Steady Stability System. Ventilated wide vest/harness with adjustment possibilities.
Pack: Zippered roll top. Flexible volume (1-24L) with on-the go compression system and possible to tighten the load closer to the body. Bungee cord for stowing jacket etc on front.
Pockets: A total of 9 external pockets, all accessible on the go.
Additional features: Hiking pole attachment allowing to access or re-attach poles without removing your backpack. Two 500ml HydraPak TM soft bottles are included. Grab handle. YKK zippers. Attachment for bike light. Dual adjustable sternum straps. Key hook. Removable padded sleeve for hydration reservoir (optional) or laptop.
INTENDED SPECIFIC END USE
Y LightLine is designed to enable longer and higher hikes by less weight to carry and extra ordinary breathability for best comfort during high pulse activity. Intended use is high-speed short to mid hikes or sporty commutes. Y LightLine is the ideal pack for high activity sports like fast hiking, running or bicycling. For active commuting, the removable pocket comfortably accommodates a laptop and it is attached in a position that does not prevent the back from curving (while biking).
SUSTAINABILITY INFORMATION
By combining PFAS free materials with minimalistic clean design and reduction of any unnecessary detail’s, functions and cutlines, we move towards a more sustainable future without compromising on looks and functionality.
The trimmings are bluesign® approved. The fabrics are PFAS free. Bergans operates with a Restricted Substances List (RSL), based on the bluesign system. This RSL clearly states restrictions or limitations for harmful chemicals and is mandatory for all our suppliers.
The circular economy approach includes several consumers faced services like Rental, Repair, product Return and Re-sales as well as a Redesign program – all named “Long live the Product”.
Bergans offers a product-take-back system for all our customers in the Norwegian market. Products are either re-sold, donated to charity or the material will be used and re-purposed for our re-design products or taken back into a recycling loop where possible.
