FUN FACTS OR BACKSTORY?
Getting back to their adventurous roots, Tenson recently returned to Everest Base Camp to commemorate the Tenson-sponsored Japanese Mount Everest Expedition in the winter of 1981. The expedition, which saw two members of his team reach Everest’s summit, was led by legendary adventurer Naomi Uemura. Then a Tenson ambassador, Uemura is recognized as the first man to reach the North Pole solo, the first man to raft the Amazon solo, and the first man to climb Denali solo – in the winter. In addition to celebrating their winter 2021 return to Everest Base Camp, Tenson leveraged their time in the Khumbu region to connect with the extraordinary people of the Khumbu region who have been so instrumental in aiding trekkers and climbers from all over the world. Additionally, the Tenson team took the opportunity to conduct photography and video shoots that would help introduce their 50th Anniversary Himalaya CarbonZERO Product and TXlite™ collections – among them the Himalaya Shell Jacket.
