Light My Fire: Swedish Spork stainless

Light My Fire

Swedish Spork stainless

True Scandinavian Award Spring/Summer 26

Jury statement: When Light my Fire over 20 years ago invented Spork, a piece of cutlery that has a spoon on one end and a fork on the other, they created an iconic product that worldwide became a favorite not only for hikers but also for people going out for picnics. The newest iteration made out Swedish stainless steel in Sweden could be the final version of the Spork since it will last almost forever. It also perfectly matches the company’s BORROW concept with long-lasting items that can be rented for outdoor events to eliminate single-use food containers and cutlery.

Product USP

Light My Fire Spork – A Scandinavian Icon of Functional Design & Sustainability Designed and made in Sweden, the Light My Fire Spork is a true expression of Scandinavian innovation: minimalist, clever, and kind to the planet. This 3-in-1 utensil – combining spoon, fork and knife – is crafted from 61% recycled material, and built to last a lifetime of meals, from backyards to backcountry. It’s more than a tool – it’s a symbol of Nordic values: Sustainability, Functionality, and Timeless design. Lightweight. Durable. Reusable. A small product making a big impact – proudly Scandinavian.

Intended specific end use:

The Light My Fire Spork Stainless is designed for outdoor dining, cooking, and sustainable eating on the go. Perfect for camping, hiking, travel, school lunches, workplace meals – and even backcountry cooking.

Made from 61% recycled stainless steel, it’s durable, heat-resistant, and safe for use when stirring or serving hot meals directly from pots and pans. Its reusable, all-in-one design replaces disposable cutlery and packs easily in any kit.

The rugged finish makes it not only cool and nice to look at but also long-lasting and less sensitive to scratch, wear and tear.

Fun facts or backstory:

Like all great innovations, the Swedish Spork was born as an antidote for a curious problem.
Together with industrial designer, Joachim Nordwall, Light My Fire took the spork, usually a spoon with fork teeth, and evolved it into a never-before-seen tool of our own. Placing the spoon at one end, and a serrated fork at the other, created a three-in-one combination utensil connected by a smooth and natural curve. The crowd went wild! The wave of enthusiasm sold 1 million pieces in the first year and 60 million to date.

But the saga continues. Its growing appreciation has brought the Swedish Spork into renowned publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian and even a full article about camping Nirvana in Penthouse, well known for its in-depth journalism. It has also found its way into the hands of numerous celebrities—including the Swedish royal family and many others. A star was well and truly born, and its recognition eventually reached the Svensk Form. An association promoting innovative Swedish design since 1845. Welcomed into the hallowed halls of Applied Arts, the Swedish Spork was officially awarded as an object of aesthetically pleasing functionality.

A Swedish Design Classic. A hardworking and adventurous utensil, bringing beautiful form to simple function. The Swedish Spork continues to evolve, serve, and tell its story through the millions of Sporkers out there in all adventures big and small.

The Swedish Spork Family consist of 5 different sizes in 3 different materials:
Spork little 14cm
Spork original 17cm
Spork medium 20cm
Spork large 25cm

DEVOLD OF NORWAY: Adventure Jacket

DEVOLD OF NORWAY

Adventure Jacket

Product USP

Devold didn’t set out to improve the fleece. They set out to replace it.

The Adventure Jacket is built with 100% merino wool in a performance-engineered waffle grid — designed to trap heat, release excess, dry fast and feel unreal. No plastic near your core. Just nature’s original performance fibre, brought to life through technical precision. High-wear zones — shoulders, sleeves, elbows — are reinforced with a stretch-woven merino blend. Not to hide weaknesses, but to honour the places gear is tested hardest.

Intended specific end use:

This is the mid-layer for people who move fast, think light, and go long.
With a regular fit, it’s made to layer easily over a Devold base layer without restricting movement or adding bulk. The Adventure Jacket regulates on the uphill, insulates on the pause, and dries before you’ve cooled down. It’s cut for motion, built to breathe, and made to disappear when it’s on.
No clamminess. No stink. No bulk.

Fun facts or backstory:

Devold didn’t try to make wool work like plastic. They made plastic irrelevant.

The team took the grid fleece — a staple of synthetic outdoor wear — and rebuilt it from scratch in 100% merino. Not token percentages. Not marketing spin. Real wool, doing real work.
The result? A technical fabric with all the airflow, insulation and recovery of synthetic fleece — minus the fossil fuels and microplastic fallout.

Devold didn’t add merino to a fleece. They removed everything that didn’t belong.
And frankly, why follow a material trend — when you’ve been leading with wool since 1853?

End of use strategy:

Devold designs with the end in mind. Wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber—which means it won’t last forever, and that’s a positive feature. When a garment reaches the end of its life, it can return safely to the earth without leaving behind harmful microplastics or pollution. Until then, each product is made to last as long as possible. Devold garments are sewn for durability, but also with disassembly in mind—using construction methods that allow for easier separation of materials for recycling or responsible disposal. It’s part of the brand’s commitment to a more circular system: durable in use, gentle at the end, and respectful of the natural resources it depends on.

SPLASH Rain Pant

Product USP

Lightweight, durable rain pants designed for active kids.
Made from a 2-layer waterproof and windproof material, they offer excellent breathability and comfort—even in warmer weather.

Intended specific end use:

Perfect for unpredictable outdoor adventures, these pants are compact, easy to pack, and feature taped seams for full waterproof protection.

Fun facts or backstory:

When developing our rain pants, we faced a challenge: sourcing a high-durability fabric that met our sustainability standards. It wasn’t just a temporary solution, we believe this product is here to stay.

NORDISK: Boost

NORDISK

Boost

Innovation Award Spring/Summer 26

Jury statement: The Nordisk Boost +8, a down filled blanket with a footbox, and the footbox Boost +4, offer the opportunity to boost the temperature of any sleeping bag by the indicated number. Therefore, there is no need to buy a whole new sleeping bag, when expected temperatures might be lower than the bags rating. Both products can also be worn in camp to keep you warm. The shell is made from water repellent recycled nylon and the 600 cuin RDS certified duck down fulfills very strict animal welfare standards.

Product USP

A compact, packable add-on — easy to carry but powerful in performance. Instantly increases the sleeping bag’s temperature limit by 4°C or 8°C, depending on the model (BOOST 4 or BOOST 8).

Made from 100% GRS-certified recycled fabrics and filled with RDS-certified European down, all processed in-house in Germany for quality control and eco-responsibility.

Intended specific end use:

BOOST – More Warmth, More Freedom
As the name suggests, BOOST is designed to elevate the performance of any sleeping bag. By increasing both comfort and limit temperature, it ensures a restful night’s sleep just when the cold begins to bite.

Fun facts or backstory:

Accessories and liners like BOOST have existed for some time, including earlier concepts within NORDISK’s own history. However, quantifying the ""feel-good factor"" — translating subjective comfort into measurable performance — has long been a challenge.

To bridge the gap between technical data and perceived warmth, the BOOST project was approached with a more scientific methodology. Over the course of a year, eight different BOOST configurations were tested in a range of sleeping systems, both in controlled laboratory settings and during field trials. Thermal imaging was used extensively to track and analyse heat retention in real time.

Through this process, BOOST 4 and BOOST 8 emerged as the most effective solutions — delivering the optimal balance between measurable thermal enhancement (both objective and subjective) and minimal weight and pack size.

End of use strategy:

"There is no end of use. Period Wash, (re-)fill, repair – all done in our own Care & Repair Center in Germany.

With in-house production at NORDISK’s own manufactory in Germany — including an integrated Care & Repair center — BOOST is designed for long-term use and performance.
If the down filling becomes uneven or lumpy due to prolonged moisture exposure, loses loft over time, or sheds some down after extended use, it can be refilled, replaced, or topped up as needed. In many cases, the available industrial-level washing service effectively restores both function and appearance.

Typical signs of wear — such as damaged fabric, broken seams or chords — can also be professionally repaired by trained specialists. This service infrastructure ensures that BOOST is not just a simple accessory, but a durable, sustainable companion built to last a lifetime."

NORDISK: SIRIUS EXP

NORDISK

SIRIUS EXP

Product USP

Living up to NORDISK’s core promise of delivering “the highest feel-good factor” under any circumstances, this highly functional sleeping bag is engineered to be the safest and most comfortable expedition sleeping bag to sleep in to date. In its standard configuration – filled with RDS-certified European White Goose Down – it is rated for temperatures below -30°C, with a tested limit temperature of -35°C. Thanks to NORDISK’s own manufactory in Germany, the bag’s filling quality and filling weight can be individually tailored for expeditions in even more extreme conditions, with configurations supporting temperatures as low as -50°C.

Developed in close collaboration with current and former members of the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol in Greenland, the SIRIUS EXP was purpose-built for months-long extreme expeditions in the unforgiving Greenlandic wilderness.

One of the most distinctive features, directly inspired by the Sirius Patrol, is the pair of arm zippers located on each side of the bag. These allow the user to free their arms for urgent tasks – such as responding to a polar bear alarm or handling equipment – without sacrificing core warmth.

Intended specific end use:

With the SIRIUS EXP down sleeping bag, NORDISK set out to create the ultimate Arctic sleeping bag – one that combines decades of expertise with groundbreaking innovation to ensure the safest and most comfortable sleep in the world’s harshest environments.

Fun facts or backstory:

"The SIRIUS EXP sleeping bag is as packed with a backstory as it is with down. As for this extraordinary product development project, the NORDISK R&D department teamed up with past members and active reservists of the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol in Greenland, an elite Danish naval unit conducting long-range reconnaissance patrolling and enforcing Danish sovereignty in the Arctic wilderness of northern and eastern Greenland.

As a result of this collaboration, there are hardly any sleeping bags out there right now, that have been tested, discussed and refined, tested and adjusted more often than SIRIUS EXP.

Just to name a few. The first SIRIUS prototype alone saw 418 kilometers of skiing in the North of Norway with a former Sirius Patrol member, another Sirius man took the second SIRIUS to Swiss Alps and back to the North of Norway on yet another extensive test trip. All along the way NORDISK received invaluable insights and feedback to massage into further product development and sampling. All culminating in one final product test in full expedition environment. SIRIUS was selected by two former Sirius Patrol members to take part in a 4-week expedition to Northeast Greenland with over 700 kilometers of ice, snow and white-outs covered on skis. The final word on the SIRIUS EXP: Do not change a single thing on the sleeping bag!

And as if working with ex-elite “winter soldiers” would not be enough we enrolled two Finnish backcountry skiers to look at SIRIUS EXP with a different set of eyes and take the bag for another staggering 4-week ride in harshest conditions from the North Cape in Norway down to Arctic Finland. Yet another challenge mastered by SIRIUS.

Oh. You asked for a fun fact? Here is one. Talking about the ideal length of a sleeping bag zipper with former elite soldiers can at times lead to some astonishing revelation – that in the end will in fact inform the length of the zipper. Imagine, when nature calls during the night in a minus 30 degree centigrade environment. One might only want to be able to open the sleeping bag just enough to answer that call. Every inch of zipper opened for nothing would just result in a hard loss of warmth from inside the bag. So, it became a task to take this into serious SIRIUS consideration."

VIKING: Her Momentum GTX

VIKING

Her Momentum GTX

Product USP

The shoe is designed, developed, and tested by women. Women’s bodies are different from men’s, and therefore they need different shoes. Women’s stability often relies more on ligaments, making them generally more mobile and flexible. Increased mobility requires additional support.

That’s why Viking created a women-specific fit—after scanning over 200,000 Nordic women’s feet (biomechanical research, Volumental) and having 100 female testers walk a total of 20,000 km.

Intended specific end use:

Viking has designed a shoe with women specific fit based on data-driven research.

To create the new line of footwear developed for women, Viking took a data-driven approach, including more than 200,000 scans of women's feet and collaborated with one of the world's leading last makers. The result not only improves wellness and comfort but also creates a precise fit, where the heel provides the necessary stability, and the forefoot is free of pressure points

Motion Control forms the structural foundation of the shoe, making them stable and supportive. Women are more likely to pronate due to a higher risk of arch flattening compared to men.
Viking’s Motion Control addresses this issue with an integrated dual-density EVA midsole in the shoe’s arch section, which effectively counteracts higher degrees of pronation in women.

Fun facts or backstory:

All shoes are developed for men "shrinked " and "pinked". Viking decided to look at women's needs in a shoe. Women's bodies are different than men's, women's feet's are different from men so women need different shoes and not only takedowns from men's shoes.

REIMA: BugProof Hoodie Hytyton

REIMA

Reima BugProof hoodie Hytyton

Product USP

The insect-repellent finish provides long-lasting protection. Mosquitoes and ticks are known to spread serious diseases, yet we want our children to be able to explore freely and learn to love nature. Parents can use less insect repellent chemicals on their child's skin when they can rely on the clothing to keep the insects away.

Reima BugProof finish contains geraniol, a plant-based insect repellent. Reima has tested its efficiency and even after 50 washes, it's still at an excellent level.

Intended specific end use:

Outdoor activities, forest outings, summer camp.
The Hytyton children's insect repellent jersey hoodie safeguards outdoors-loving kids against ticks and mosquitoes with the help of geraniol derived from lemongrass. The soft, stretchy jersey is made with recycled polyester, and it feels very nice against the skin.

Fun facts or backstory:

The jersey is supersoft and stretchy. Kids who have been using this product find it extremely comfortable.

End of use strategy:

All Reima products are designed to withstand the use of several children. They also offer a Reima Repair Kit for quick fixes and sell FabPatchTM textile patches for sew-free mending in our stores. FJÄLLRÄVEN: Kajka X-Lätt 45

FJÄLLRÄVEN

Kajka X-Lätt 45

Overall Winner Spring/Summer 26

Jury statement: Weighing only 1,1 Kilo, being made from extra tough materials, the super comfortable 45-liter-pack Kajka X-Lätt from Fjällräven gives backpackers the ideal mix of durability, low weight and carry performance. The birchwood frame requires up to 60 percent less energy in production than a regular aluminum frame. The practical features, including a lid with two well placed pockets, help you organize year gear. Weight conscious backpackers can strip down features to save even more weight. »It is one of the best packs I have tested in the last thirty years«, one jury member said.

Product USP

X at Fjällräven stands for ‘product exploration’ and this time the company has explored how to optimise the balance between durability, functionality and light weight. The result is the Kajka X-Lätt 45, a durable trekking backpack that is rich in functional features, is easy to repair and weighs in at just over 1kg, fully featured. The 45L main compartment is made with Fjällräven’s extremely hardwearing fabric, Vinylon F, around a high-quality birch wood frame. The back length is fully adjustable, and the stretch side pockets and removable stretch front sleeve offer extra storage. The inside pocket is detachable and can be used separately as a small crossbody bag for essentials.

Intended specific end use:

Trekking and hiking.

Fun facts or backstory:

"It all started with the question, how can we make a typical Fjällräven product, – with our time-tested material, vinylon, and a wooden frame – really light?
With that question in mind, the design team started development in the Fjällräven innovation workshop, Vinkelladan, located in Norra Djurgården in Stockholm. They built the product from the inside out, scrutinising every buckle to create the lightest, most durable, comfortable and functional backpack, and drawing inspiration from Fjällräven’s oldest backpack, the LÄTT backpack from 1960, as well as the original Kajka backpack from 2008..
The development took its time, allowing for each prototype to be tested during several hikes and events along the way, each one informing the coming iterations (and there were many prototypes).

When it came to the backpack’s design, rather than looking at today’s most lightweight backpacks, it was important for the team to look instead at the company’s rich history and heritage of designing backpacks – for example, the open sacks of the oldest designs – in order to find Fjällräven’s own way of designing light in today’s outdoor landscape."
