HARDWARE AWARD SS24
Statement from the jury: Thanks to the growing popularity of vanlife, outdoor has a wider meaning than we ever thought it would have. Here we have a kind of product you don’t know you need, until you have it. It is lightweight, easy to carry but above all technically very innovative and functional. Just press a button and water will flow from the tank to the faucet and into your cup, mug, pot, pan or water bottle. And this is also possible in pitch dark nights because the faucet has a light. Even the most hardcore outdoor jurors were won over by the luxury of running water in the wilderness. The Dometic Outdoor Go Hydration Water Faucet & Jug brings modern convenience to outdoor life, vanlife and camping.
Transforms any water container into a running water system with no external power source required.
Simple one-touch operation with automatic shutoff for water conservation at 1 minute or 1 liter of water dispensed.
You probably take your kitchen faucet for granted when you’re home but having one available when you’re on the go is a game-changer. The Hydration Water Faucet is designed to make water dispersing a snap, letting you pour out just what you need and not a drop more. At the campsite, you can choose just enough to wet your toothbrush or fill a cooking pot with the touch of a button, with no waste.
Design: A team effort undertaken by Owen Mesdag (Product Manager), Christian Zachrich (Sr. Industrial Designer), Steve Schwennsen (Design Engineer) & Birk Söödi (Design Engineer)
Product material: Primarily food grade ABS, Polypropylene and Silicone.

The jacket uses RDS certified Chrystal Down and has an ultra-thin and light membrane that has the thickness of 1/10th of a human hair. The highly technical construction of the ’baffle is acknowledged by the jury. The jacket kept us warm during testing, sometimes even too warm in the North Karelian sun. Is there anything we did not like? Well, Nordisk claims this is a woman's jacket and while the lady in the jury finds the jacket has an awesome fit, it does fit men too.
The thinnest and most breathable insulated water protection ever made. Sustainable Crystal Down® filling. Weight less than 300g.
Lodur is an ultralight down-filled shell jacket for women. It has successfully combined ultra-lightness, a huge water column and extreme breathability. A high-quality gas burner designed to fit the Trangia stove is not a new invention, but a Trangia gas burner that is designed and produced in Sweden, is a first. The new gas burner will be produced in the small country village of Trångsviken, the home of Trangia, which is of great value for the Scandinavian outdoor industry and for the future development of the Scandinavian countryside. Trangia is currently manufacturing some of the parts for the existing burner. But with this new gas burner, Trangia will be in control of the entire process from manufacturing of parts to assembly, quality control and safety testing.
The innovation of this product is the holistic view in which both the local community and outdoor enthusiasts, can take advantage of high-quality products that are designed, manufactured, and marketed by the same company, in the same location. Removing unnecessary environmental and financial costs associated with shipping, quality, energy usage, potentially poor working conditions and environmental practices.
The intended specific end use does not differ from any of Trangia’s other products. Cooking and make delicious food outside.

TECHNOLOGY AWARD
Statement from the jury: Recco is famous all over the globe for a very small device that has made a huge difference to unlucky outdoor people and their families. Now they made this already small device even tinier and ultra flexible. The developers managed to reduce its material use by 50% saving also on the copper that is inside. The result is a device that - after two years of R&D and testing - is so small and flexible, that it can be incorporated in high-pulse or warm weather garments made from the lightest and thinnest fabrics; you will not notice that it is there. The jury rewards this big leap that is made with this device that on top of this, outperforms its ‘bigger’ brother in search performance.
It's the slimmest and therefore most flexible RECCO reflector yet, still it is super durable. It's very light at only 1 g and 2,5mm thick. It makes you searchable to rescue professionals, for the lifetime of your garment.
The most flexible and durable RECCO Rescue Reflector yet (only 2,5mm thick), made for packable clothing such as puffer jackets or very thin hiking pants. This opens a completely new product segment for potential RECCO brand partners. With its extremely flexible design it can be hidden into garments without effecting the design of the garment, making it attractive to brands with clean design. The high-quality silicone material makes it flexible, yet very temperature and abrasion resistant.

KIDS AWARD SS24
Statement from the jury: Kids need to play as much outdoors as they can and just like adults, kids don’t like their feet to get wet. With the Tallustelu, the Finnish kids brand Reima made a sneaker that is waterproof, thanks to a waterproof and breathable polyurethane membrane. The footbed cover is made of recycled polyester and the shoe contains no fluorocarbons, including a PTFE-free membrane. The shoe has zero drop, a very flexible rubber outsole and the wide last make it is probably the first - for as far as the jury could check - waterproof barefoot shoe for kids. ‘Barefoot’ sauntering in the wet has no barriers anymore. And Tallustelu means ramble in Finnish.
Sneaker like barefoot shoe: 1) No heel drop, flexible thin sole- natural gait and posture, also activating the muscles of the foot 2) Straight, wide last- the kid´s toes can grow straight 3) Waterproof and breathable membrane inside.
First waterproof barefoot shoe for kids! (We have not found another on the market)
Barefoot shoes can be used anywhere and everywhere, but this specifically also in wet conditions. They are so light that they can also be used as inside shoes, for example in daycare or school.
Design: Satu-Maaria Forsström

Trailrunning, mountainbiking, hiking, fastpacking, backpacking, stand up paddling, snowboarding, cross country skiing, outdoor cooking and just spending time in nature. And all of these activities, I prefer to do with my Australian Sheepdog called Nugget.
What’s your main contribution of being in the Jury do you think?
With our blog, www.trampelpfadlauf.de, we have now over 10 years experience in testing outdoor stuff. In the beginning we were focused on products just for trailrunners. But over the years, we get more and more other products. I found my passion for outdoor sport about 20 years ago. It started with mountainbiking and moved more and more in running, hiking and just being outdoor. Now I spend as much time as I have in the nature, sometimes running, and sometimes just being outdoor and relax.

Favorite outdoor activities:
Hiking, skiing, winter fishing with nets. I also have 10 siberian huskies.
What’s your main contribution of being in the Jury do you think?
I used to test outdoor gear as a profession and worked as an outdoor journalist for 7 years. Then I moved to Kilpisjärvi in Finnish Lapland, a small village of 150 people, and wanted to do something else. My life was earlier all about hiking (weeks in Lapland) and when I moved here, it changed. Now it is just everyday life outdoors, above treeline in wind and snow. I can open my front door and walk the fells. I used to call that hiking. Now it is everyday life, outdoor gear is everyday gear. At the same time I still wanted to write and offer Finnish outdoor people something special. So I founded a new magazine in Finland, Luode.
For the first time, antimicrobial treatment that doesn’t harm nature.
Sasta and NordShield have teamed up to further improve Sasta’s Ventile jackets. By using NordShield treatment, the nature-based protection offered by Ventile is enhanced even further, thereby providing further improvement to an already established design. It is their view that groundbreaking products are overrated, they favour a constant and sustainable improvement that mimics that of nature.
All-around outdoor, they do not believe in over-specialization.
NordShield is the first textile protection solution to use the power of nature, eliminating toxic compounds such as heavy metals and QUATs. By forming a molecule-thin layer on the surface, NordShield physically protects the garment from bacteria and virus, just as nature does. This not only eliminates odor but enchants the lifespan of the garment by reducing the need for washing. The treatment also reduces the need for DWR re-treatment.
Innovation in the outdoor industry often takes the route of radical improvement. While NordShield believe this is necessary, they also believe in a more Nordic design and innovation perspective, i.e. that of gradually improving designs, not chasing trends but chasing the optimal balance with nature.
NordShield enables a natural material like Ventile to function even better. The properties of NordShield protects the cotton from bacteria and thereby fungi, and also viruses, enabling the garment to stay fresh, clean and healthy even longer. This protects the investment of the user made in a natural high-quality garment and enables the product to further itself in any LCA scenario.
The NordShield invention simply comes from looking at pine trees and observing how they grow tall and strong, unhindered by diseases. The application of molecular-size rosin to garments is a fine example of Nordic biomimicry.

OVERALL WINNER FW 23/24
Statement from the Jury: By sending in an 11-year-old midlayer sweater, Woolpower has taken a very bold step in changing the way we think about outdoor clothing. The looks with pilling are that of an 11-year-old product, but after that 11 years of use the product still functions and performs to full content according to the jury. The Ullfrotté Original fabric has been giving warmth and comfort to many since it was developed in the early 1970’s and has been in the used in this garment since 1972. Every jury member applauds the Ullfrotté material that has proven to be not only top notch performing in comfort and warmth, but also is extremely durable and therefore very sustainable.
80% air. The fabric is a terry-knit tricot with one side flat-knitted and the other made up of terry loops. The fabric’s fluffy terry loops combined with the wool’s crinkly fibres create a tricot that traps a lot of air. In fact 80% of the fabric consists of air. Material mix. Merino wool is a very fine, soft and crinkly wool, here 22 thousandths of a mm thick. That creates a comfortable wool, that’s also strong. Woolpower has layered polyester on the outer side of the Woolpower garment to make it more durable. Long lifecycle and high durability. This sweater has been used extensively since 2011. This garment will be returned back so that the owner can continue to use it for many years to come.
Ullfrotté Original. Wool is nature’s very own functional fabric. Woolpower developed Ullfrotté Original fabric in the early 1970’s in Östersund, Sweden. Unique knitting method and few seams. The special knitting method was developed to enhance the properties of the wool. Knitting on circular knitting machines is relatively common, but the Woolpower way of doing it is quite unique. Each knitting machine knits its unique size of garment.
The garment is intended to keep you warm and comfortable for many years. It is made to withstand extreme weather conditions, sudden changes in weather and different levels of activity.
Woolpower have had the same clothing range for 50 years and that is a conscious choice. Product development is not about creating new collections every season or even every year. It is about their already existing products with quality and sustainability.
The textile industry is amazing, it creates immense creativity and foster innovation. The garments Woolpower develop in the outdoor industry enables us humans to take us places on this earth we otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience. But there is a backside, the negative impact the textile industry has on our environment and people is undeniable. We can innovate “sustainable products” all we want but the biggest elephant in the room is that we need to consume less. Much less. As enablers of adventure, we should provide good products that will satisfy a real need for a long time. New collections, new colours and features every season to lour the costumer into wanting more is straight up unethical. Woolpower makes products with function that stands the test of time, a beautiful combination between the greatest engineer, mother nature, with the function of wool and an innovative knitting construction. Therefore, Woolpower wants to nominate this 10 years old Turtleneck 200 in Ullfrotté Original. Used, loved, mended, passed down and loved again.
Design: xThe design is from 1972. You can see the name of the seamstress who have sewn the garment by looking at the name tag inside the neck of the sweater.

KIDS AWARD FW 23/24
Statement from the jury: This children's jacket is the first Bluesign product of the Finnish brand Reima. It is made of a combination of very interesting sustainable materials. The outer material is made of Seawool, a blend of recycled polyester and a recycled polyester that contains nano-sized powder from discarded oyster shells. A PU membrane makes the jacket waterproof and breathable. Warmth is provided by Fellex Ocean Ecofill, and so the jacket also helps keep the ocean and coasts clean. In addition, the jacket is comfortable to wear and has all the features that children need.
Reima’s first ever bluesign product, made from waterproof, breathable Seawool material. The Seawool polyester contains nano-size powder from discarded oyster shells. Insulation bluesign approved Fellex Ocean Ecofill, that helps keep our oceans clean.
The bluesign approved fabric consists of 52% certified recycled polyester and 48% recycled Seawool polyester that contains nanosize powder from discarded oyster shells. The powder addition gives the polyester fiber many benefits, the most striking of which is the wool-like, soft surface and impressive warmth. The Seawool fibers have an excellent insulation capability compared to regular polyester – and even wool. The oyster shell’s natural property, low conductivity, gives the fibers anti-static properties, and the fibers are also antibacterial, meaning there is better odor control. The jacket is insulated with bluesign approved Fellex Ocean Ecofill loose insulation that helps keep our oceans clean. Ecofill fibers are certified recycled (GRS + OceanCycle certified) and they originate 100% from materials collected from communities with no formal waste management within 50 km of the coastline, of material washed up on beaches and shorelines, and material floating.
Warm, waterproof and urban winter jacket. The jacket is a classic time- defying design for kids sized 104 to 164 cm. The fuss-free style is unisex and usable all winter long, even during the coldest times.
Reima is committed to work everyday for sustainability. In 2023, 90% of their clothes will be made of sustainable materials.
The name Osteri means Oyster in english and refers to the material, which includes oyster shells.
Design: Mikko Niiranen
Product material: Waterproof, breathable Seawool material. Insulated with bluesign approved Fellex Ocean Ecofill (certified recycled). Water column 10 000 mm (EN20811) and water vapor permeability 8 000 g/m2/24 h (ISO 15496). The smooth lining bluesign fabric consists of 55% recycled polyester and 45% polyester.

The combination of sustainability and winter protection. Riekko Recycled is made from recycled woollen felt, carbon neutral Terracare leather and PFC-free Gore-Tex ePE. The sustainability credentials of Riekko are further enhanced with European production, close to the main European consumer markets – keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum.
As a lightweight winter boot, to be used in ice and snow. Especially intended to offer total confidence on clear ice.
It’s a fun (or not so fun) fact that yearly, ~20,000 Finns slip and injure themselves between January and March. It costs insurance companies €50 million yearly for compensation claims from workers slipping and falling on their way to and from the office. Felt boots have been made since the 19th century in Finland. Pomar updated the traditional Finnish felt boot, a winter classic, with modern technical features and a clean Nordic look. The Riekko recycled is designed for comfort in harsh Nordic climates and a modern lifestyle.
Finns and those with a Northen climate often need to use spikes daily as melting snow freezes and pavements, doorways and stairs become slippery and hazardous. Pomar made spike shoes to solve this problem. The Riekko Recycled spike boot is an extension of our Fennia Award winning Pomar Felt Boots collection. A sustainable lightweight spike boot, insulated, waterproof and breathable – which offers total confidence in icy conditions.

SUSTAINABILITY AWARD FW 23/24
Statement from the jury: The Swedish brand Hestra is known for its excellent gloves and the Army Leather Heli Ski glove and mitten is one of their iconic models. Taking this design and reworking it to be completely sustainable without losing its durability, function and comfort is a great achievement. The goatskin on the palm is chrome-free and undyed, the backhand is 100% recycled and undyed polyamide, and the accessories on the glove are 100% recycled nylon. The removable wool terry lining is also undyed. Hestra has made a lot of good choices in making a classic performance glove sustainable.
Design: Marianne Knutsson-Hall & Hestra Design Team
Product material: 100% post-industrial recycled polyamide backhand, chrome-free goatskin palm, 100% undyed wool terry removable liner, 100% recycled nylon accessories.
Product weight: 280 g (for a mid-size range)
An identical construction to one of Hestra’s most functional, durable and iconic alpine models receives a total material overhaul, to now feature a range of recycled, un-dyed and reduced impact materials. In natural, off-white colour.
Use of recycled, undyed materials in an identical construction as Hestra’s most iconic glove and mitten (Army Leather Heli Ski). 100% recycled and undyed polyamide backhand material, 100% recycled nylon accessories and chrome-free and undyed goatskin palm. Removable, undyed wool terry liners also improve versatility and enable longevity of the outer gloves.
Created for ambitious skiers and professional ski guides who need a reliable and durable, warm and water resistant, flexible and functional ski glove with excellent grip and feel for long days of snow and cold in remote alpine environments.
The backhand is made using an undyed, 100% recycled version of Hestra’s own polyamide material known as Triton, and is tested to be as durable as the original virgin material yet with a 23% reduction in CO2 emissions. Accessories like the wrist strap loop, snow lock and cordpuller are made of 100% recycled nylon. The palm is made using chrome-free, undyed and extremely durable goatskin sourced from a LWG Gold tannery. Removable wool liners can furthermore be exchanged depending on temperature or replaced at end of life to extend potential lifespan of the gloves and mittens.
Durability is at the core of Hestra’s design and sustainability ethos, so when looking for a recycled material to replace its virgin textiles only the toughest would do. Designer Marianne thought back on her 25 years working with the company and realized that she had never seen a pair of gloves where the polyamide material known as Triton had worn out. This, she thought, might make a good starting point for a recycled material that could potentially be used on many of their products. After receiving a sample, they tested it and found that it was just as durable as Triton made using virgin material. The question was then how to differentiate gloves made using recycled Triton and virgin Triton. A particular colour, perhaps? Then, another impact reduction opportunity dawned upon the team – colourless. The recycled Triton therefore comes in its natural, off-white colour.

The Nord knife takes the concept of a Scandinavian all-purpose wilderness knife and brings it into the 21st century. Helle combines the weight, power and solidity of a big, full-tang camp knife and the versatility of a small knife, bringing together the best of two worlds into one product. From heavy camp use to delicate carving and food prep, the unique shape and balance handle achieved with a lengthened handle creates a grip and ergonomic functionality that enables a wider range of uses.
By working with and pushing the traditional shape and form, and moving the Helle mindset of balance between handle size and blade size the Nord knife maintains a mid-size blade with a heavy swing weight when using the knifes overall length. The uniquely shaped handle offers multiple grips enabling the user to work with many different tasks, both small and big. Held far to the pommel it becomes a tool for clearing brush around camp, preparing and processing wood for the fire. Held up close to the blade, the knife offers control and extraordinary cutting abilities for finer tasks.
This is a wilderness knife that can handle heavy and diverse use over time. Clearing brush and branches (if allowed), splitting firewood, carving, food prep and much more.
Full-tang design means that there is less chance of the Nord breaking under heavy use compared to stick-tang camp knives. It will therefore last longer. The core of Helle’s sustainability approach is to make quality products that last rather than focusing on maximizing volume. Helle also clearly focus on sustainability in the materials. At Helle they primarily work with natural materials – wood, leather and steel – that are sourced as locally as possible. Because they control all production steps and make all their models, they focus on maximizing the usage of all material that can be used for production.
Helle is one of the few brands still carrying the Scandinavian knife-making heritage forward by keeping all elements – design, production, marketing and sales – of the process in-house in their factory in Holmedal, Norway. The fact that they control all aspects of the production process makes them uniquely positioned to innovate based on classic craftsmanship. A product of more than three years of trial and error, Nord came about as a result of Helle’s desire to produce a Scandinavian camp knife in natural materials that would both withstand heavy use over time and can be passed down to the next generation as an heirloom as has been the Scandinavian tradition. Their point of departure was traditional Scandinavian camp knives which are very well balanced for their size. Helle wanted to pressure the balance and usability of these knives while adding more solidity, thus making them more long-lasting. The first few knives were released in the summer of 2022, and received fantastic feedback from the market and international press like for example Field & Stream. Helle is one of the few factories still carrying the Scandinavian knife-making heritage forward.

Lightweight shell jacket for serious weather made from natural materials.
Winter activities in the mountains, ski touring, ski mountaineering.
Tightly woven and waxable cotton instead of complex composite materials from different materials glued together (aka waterproof and breathable laminates). Stainless steel and aluminium trims instead of cheaper metals with complex surface finishes to reach same corrosion/oxidation resistance and strength. Double seams with edge tape using high grade. Design choices based on historical warranty claims on similar products.
The ambition was to make a shell garment for winter activities in the mountains. A shell garment that protects in bad weather and is comfortable to wear, even at high pulse. And Fjällräven wanted to use natural materials. For them, the answer is an anorak with generous fit. Made from tightly woven and waxable cotton to avoid membranes. An extaordinary well-fitted hood, with adjustment in the back, keep you protected even in the worst conditions. Over-dimensioned trims and easy to repair constructions, together with organic look of the cotton, makes a garment to love and take care of for a long time.

Statement from the jury: The Technostretch fabric - a blend of merino wool and Cordura - used to make this midlayer jacket has proven to be extremely comfortable to wear. The pull tabs are large and usable even with gloves. The close-fitting hood fits well under a helmet. The integrated neck warmer protects against cooling and is also comfortable to wear under a shell jacket. With the /YMountainLine Wooltech Midlayer Jacket, Bergans of Norway has created a midlayer jacket that you can wear all year around.

/Y MountainLine 40 Daypack is an advanced, lightweight and robust all-mountain pack designed with a special attention towards versatility and adaptability. The world’s first backpack to utilize Safeback’s SBX avalanche safety technology. ”One pack for (almost) all your mountain adventures”.
Experienced mountain people don’t need a closet full of backpacks. But a few that they can depend on to deliver in all situations. A rugged, customizable, lightweight daypack that can be shrunk to a minimum or expanded to a fully rigged avalanche pack. It takes two minutes to add the avalanche system. The world’s first backpack to utilize Safeback’s SBX technology – a groundbreaking invention designed to provide breathable air to a buried avalanche victim.
All mountain activities. All conditions. All year.
In a world where over-consumption is ripe and outdoor gear hoarding is common, this pack is a go-to carry solution that can prevent people from buying a huge number of more specialized backpacks. Each material is carefully selected for its durability and longevity. “Long live the Product” is the name of the Bergans circular economy approach which includes services like Rental, Repair, product Return and Re-sales as well as a Redesign collection.
Designed in a ”less – but better” philosophy; this pack sheds all the ”usual” clutter in favor of clean, strong solutions. Paradoxically, a less featured pack makes it even more versatile and, the ability to re-rig the pack to the task at hand creates stronger awareness of which features you actually use. Materials and colors are understated at distance, but the touch is premium and the performance of these materials is extraordinary good. The resulting product is a joy to use and Bergans found that their staff have been fighting over the prototypes – using them for everything from commute packs to ”family at the beach” pack to multi-day mountain trips.
Design: Bergans of Norway
Product material: The main fabric is the most prominent factor in this pack. Bergans spent 2.5 years together with their partners Dong Jin and DSM Dyneema, developing a perfectly balanced ripstop fabric. Made with a blend of carefully selected Invista Cordura and Black Dyneema yarns, a perfect combination of low weight and high tear-and abrasion resistance.

The new Aclima StreamWool collection present a new reversible crewneck top and long pants. One side has a unique ‘stream-like’ face due to its special, layered knit style. The other side is a soft-to-touch flat-knit. Combining these around the core of the fabric creates hollow streamlined “channels” that traps air and offers additional warmth.
When wearing the garment with the flat-knit next to skin you will feel warm and comfortable. If you need more insulation, simply turn the garment inside out and get the benefit of additional loft next to skin due to the special ‘Stream’ ottoman knit. The knit is carefully placed in accordance with body mapping, designed to secure insulation in the most crucial and exposed areas of your body. Aclima have chosen to use their interlock system to strategically prevent wear and rubbing.
A perfect set for cold and harsh conditions and for any outdoor activity that demands high level of insulation and comfort. Ideal for skiing, expeditions, running and winter basecamp activities.
Aclima has Oeko-Tex 100 certification in all garments. The wool is biodegradable, as the fibres are made of proteins, which is consumed by insects and microbes. Aclima is an ISO-14001 certified company. The Merino wool is ZQ-certified. All Aclima products are made in northern Europe. The SteamWool is a multi-use product that allows the user to wear their product in many ways for many different activities.
After countless months of research and feedback from their outdoor ambassadors Aclima discovered the need for more modular and flexible products. If a product is multi-functional it will increase its value, as it allows the user to wear their product in many ways for many different activities and purposes. There is an advantage to the user if the product itself can cover a variety of different uses and provide different degrees of warmness depending on how the user wears it.

The fabrics contain up to 50 percent recycled material and the Gore-Tex membrane keeps the feet dry. This underlines that over time, proven designs can be made better and more sustainable.
Built to master the trails and give you the confidence to concentrate on the path ahead, Viking’s Anaconda Trail GTX BOA helps to move quickly and comfortably over any terrain with their newly developed oversized Ultimate Grip Concept soles. Anaconda Trail GTX BOA is made of less material than its predecessor and contains 50% recycled upper, 49% recycled lining and 100% recycled webbing. A waterproof Gore-Tex membrane and the side-mounted BOA® Fit System guarantee a snug fit, and an easy-on pull loop at the back makes Anaconda Trail GTX BOA the perfect trail shoe.
The Ultimate Grip Concept outsole has a special multi-directional tread pattern for maximum traction, keeping you confident on your feet over all types of terrain and in all types of weather. Their newly developed dual-density cushioning system combines soft foam in the heel for the ultimate plush landing and firmer foam in the forefoot for a stable and responsive gait. The oversized compression-molded EVA midsole allows the foot to sit within the foam, yielding extra support and protection while negotiating uneven terrain. That extra cushioning is engineered and shaped for a specific action, with its generous heel and toe spring easing the transition from heelstrike to toe-off on every stride. A combination of carefully finessed components and anatomically enhanced geometry.
The active outdoor person looking for both cushioning and grip when walking and running in any terrain.
A new upgrade of an old style with less material and 50% recycled upper, 49% recycled lining and 100% recycled webbing. Use of engineered mesh creates no waste, without any cut-offs.
This is a reimagining of one of Viking’s modern classics, the Anaconda. A sleek, handsome and modern shoe filled with innovation and protection. Anaconda is capable of approaching technical tasks in nature, like crossing mountain streams or orienteering in the wilderness, with ease, while making you feel stylish, confident and in control, no matter the situation or setting.

SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
Statement from the Jury:
With the SIP Power Gas, Primus brings sustainability into the outdoor gas fuel market. The canister is still filled with fossil gas since biobased gas is not available in their production country today. But through mass balance purchasing, Primus buys the same amount of biobased fuel certificates and creates a market pull. Over time it will increase the number of facilities producing biobased gas and make it available on a broader basis. The canisters are built and filled in Europe to reduce transportation.
SIP means: Sustainable Improvement Program
Design: Eric Svartström
Category:Technology/Hardware
Product material:
Gas: in a biogas plant, a controlled, biological decomposition process takes place that converts biomass mainly into water, carbon dioxide and methane; Canister: made of steel and also made in Europe.
Product weight: 390 g (230 g gas) and 645 g (450 g gas)
The SIP Power Gas is a true all-round gas that performs in the majority of outdoor cooking conditions, just like the tried-and-tested Primus Power Gas. SIP Power Gas is Primus’ most sustainable gas, reducing the CO2 footprint and helps scale up sustainability by using the principles of mass balance and minimizing transportation. For every SIP Power Gas canister, Primus purchase biogas (made from food waste) instead of fossil-based fuel. All components, from the steel of the canister to the fuel, are sourced in Europe, close to the key market.
Sustainable gas, which reduces the CO2 footprint and helps scale up sustainability by using the principles of mass balance and minimizing transportation. For every SIP Power Gas canister, Primus purchase biogas (made from food waste) instead of fossil-based fuel.
Sustainable gas for outdoor cooking conditions – fuel for gas stoves, grills, gas lanterns.
First bio-based gas (made from food waste) in a gas cartridge for outdoor cooking (as far as they know). Moved production closer to the key markets, biogas and canisters are made in Europe. The SIP Power Gas will have approximately 50% less climate impact than regular Primus Power Gas. The steel of the gas canisters can be recycled.
Moving towards bio-based fuel – one of the main goals of developing SIP Power Gas is to scale up sustainability and lead the way in phasing out fossil fuels used in outdoor cooking. SIP Power Gas is the first step of many within Primus Sustainable Improvement Program – SIP.

Traditionally every little piece of material used in the process of making the knives has been taken care of.

Solar-powered wildlife conservation and improved anti-poaching efforts: For years, poaching has had devastating consequences for all wildlife. In some instances, it’s the primary reason why many species now face the risk of extinction. Recently, anti-poaching teams have started using dirt bikes for patrolling, as it’s considered the fastest and most agile vessel to use in the wild. However, these bikes run on fuel, a scarce resource in the region that is expensive to transport in the remote areas. The combustion engine bikes also alert illegal poachers miles away with their noisy engines.
The bike is designed so that it is easily dismantled/disassembled.

Ecorox 1.0 is the first Viking product made from a bio-based polyurethanes solution material. Their goal is to increase the percentage of renewable resources in Ecorox 1.0, while keeping the same good performance of today.
One of the most sustainable things you can do, is to make products of good quality that lasts, and it is therefore very important for Viking when implementing new materials in their collections, that the quality lives up to our standard.
By giving the boot the name Ecorox 1.0 they want to be transparent about their challenges and communicate the journey Viking are on to their customers. Staying imperfectly perfect as they move towards becoming a climate positive company.
Exploring and experiencing regardless of weather conditions, developing new skills while enjoying the great outdoors both in kindergarten and family excursions.
In 2020, Viking celebrated 100 years of Norwegian quality by renewing their sustainability agenda. Viking are now striving to keep their quality high and impact low as they move towards becoming climate positive by 2030.
At Viking, this means they will work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout their value chain, from sourcing and manufacturing to transportation and through product use and reuse. And focus on working together with partners to store carbon through reforestation and responsible forest management. In 2021 Viking began the development of six strategic projects to reach their goal:
Reduction of material used in this boot in the production, and reduction of the use of non-renewable resources. Vikings high quality and durability allows for sustainable long use, and it can be passed on to other little adventurers when outgrown.
Together with Reform Projects Viking have been granted DIP funding from Design and Architecture Norway – DOGA – to develop prototypes of circular children’s shoes and design a circular service that the shoes can exist within.
Through this design-driven innovation program they have investigated how children’s shoes can become more sustainable. One of the findings was how Viking can change materials that are based on non-renewable resources to bio-based polyurethanes solutions which contains a significant percentage of bio-content from renewable resource.

Due to millions of tiny air bubbles in the new material called CLI Tech (Comfort, lightness and insulation), it insulates extremely well and keeps your feet toasty and dry. The trick to stay comfortable even in rough conditions is to manage heat and humidity simultaneously. In short: you’ll want to trap the heat but vent out the moisture. What makes this a bit tricky is that the body radiates a lot of its heat through convection – a technical term meaning warm humidity, that becomes liquid as it cools down. Using an ingenious double mid-layer system, the L.I.M Z|T manages to take care of the heat, while breathing the moisture out. This enables you to stay in the comfort zone in a much wider range of outdoor temperatures and through different phases of intensity: neither too warm or too cold, and with a much smaller risk of getting damp.
To improve something that already seems perfect, one must think freely, and leave all preconceived notions behind. L.I.M Z|T is a vanguard collection of ultra-performance garments, based on the vast experience from the L.I.M Series. But it’s also the result of how Haglöfs went back to the drawing board and started over from scratch. They left the predominant three-layer theory behind and created the first truly synchronized layering system. Closest to the body: a highly open structured base layer, that breathes and keeps you dry. Double mid-layers, that let out humidity, while trapping heat. A durable, breathable and comfortable outer layer, made to withstand the roughest conditions.
Built for extreme environments (the far north, Greenland), ultra-distance and mountaineering.
The GHG emissions for the manufacturing of these products (as well as all other products in the Haglöfs line) have been compensated for through high-quality carbon offsets as part of Haglöfs climate commitment to reduce emissions by 50% while taking responsibility for the rest along the way ("Our Climate Commitment").
A number of the main fabrics are made from recycled content as part of progress towards target of all main fabrics containing recycled or renewable content by 2025. A number of design choices are made in order to help improve repairability and recyclability of the products including:
* Decision made throughout all products to only use static cords to avoid the use of elastane
* All adjustments repairable and removable e.g. hem and hood adjustments
* Specifically in the mid layers used buttons instead of zippers
* Sashiko stitches used in place of additional reinforcement fabrics (shell jacket)
The aesthetic inspiration for the entire collection comes from the light. During the time of day when the sun is most strong and powerful, it creates a straight beam of light. To incorporate this feeling of power and strength to the products and the wearer, Haglöfs created the Zenith beam – the red tread through the whole collection. Except from being an aesthetic element they also used the beam to create functions as breathable areas/panels, storage, pockets etc.

Dometic’s HYD-WF Hydration Water Faucet turns any water container into an outdoor kitchen faucet, letting you dispense only what you need with no waste. A built-in light that turns on with the faucet is perfect for nighttime use (especially when you go to brush your teeth), while two magnetic bases with double-sided tape let you place the faucet exactly where you want it. And because it’s magnetic, you have 360° of room to play with.
The HYD-WF pumps out 150 liters per charge (or 15 of the HYD-J11’s), and pumps one liter per minute with an auto shut-off after that one liter – so feel free to turn it on, focus on dinner prep, and come back in 60 seconds for a liter of water. USB charging makes powering a snap and you’ll never need to worry about having what amounts to a kitchen faucet at the campsite.
Water canister with several usages, can be cleaned and connected with faucet.
Base camp/camping.
No need to buy cheap water containers that are impossible to clean because of no entrance big enough for a dish brush. Extremely long life-span. All straps and lids can be taken away and the container itself is mono-material.
No matter how hard they tried, and even if the consumer frustration is clear – nobody has solved the most obvious need (water) in the way Dometic now succeeded to do!

Product material: 100% Merino wool in 19 micron
Keipen Merino Shirt is an ultra-soft knitted and felted wool-shirt in 100% Merino fabric – developed in Norway, Ålesund, and knitted in the Devold factory in Lithuania. It is a perfect midlayer for hiking or other outdoor activities, as it generates warmth, yet it has great ventilation abilities. The coconut buttons in front are easy to open and you can easily regulate the temperature. There is a smart open chest pocket, and good cuffs around the wrists. The shirt is loose fitted and adds room for your favorite Devold wool-baselayer when the temperature requires it.
This shirt is all about the fabric. Devold have developed a 100% Merino fabric that is knitted, then washed, then added the abrasion to the surface, in order to give the fabric the felted quality. It is a 19 micron wool fiber, which means it is a soft as an underwear. The fabric is light and warm, it has a natural chemical stretch and the millions of microscopic air-pockets that exists naturally in the wool, makes the shirt extremely warm, and has extraordinary abilities to insulate. The idea was to develop a shirt that is fully made of natural fibers. That is why there is no external labels made from petroleum-based products, only embroideries. And the buttons are made of coconut.
The shirt is developed as a midlayer for longer or shorter hikes when the temperature drops. The ability to generate warmth, the insulation and ventilation properties in the fabric gives the explorer a better chance to maintain a more even body temperature. The fit is loose and roomy enough to fit a Devold baselayer underneath the shirt, when the wildlife requires it.
Devold is constantly aiming for a more sustainable way of living, and a more circular economy. That is why they are constantly pushing the boundaries for what is possible to do with wool. In general, the rule of Devold is that NONE of their products should ever consist of less than 50% wool. Today they are 84% natural and only use a few synthetic materials, exclusively to increase the durability of the garment. Devold continuously work to replace synthetic fibers with natural and degradable fibers.
The Keipen Merino Shirt is as compostable as possible at the moment. All the Devold products are Oekotex approved.
The product development team in Devold has been dreaming (and working) on developing a wool-shirt for several seasons. They have searched for a suitable wool fabric from other fabric-suppliers for a long time, without really being fully satisfied. But then, finally, and almost by coincidence, they managed to make their own shirt fabric in 100% Merino! And they are so proud of it – as this is exactly what they were dreaming of all the time.

Higher pulse, short to mid hikes, very good breathability, comfort, less is more. As a protective shell garment that takes up almost no space and weight in the backpack on high tempo hikes.
Less details, means less factors than can break and effect the functionality of the fabric and the garment. Here Bergans have evaluated every detail and trimming to see if it has the right function and purpose for this product. Is the weight worth the function has always been the question.
Using 100 % recycled raw material (from production waste) for this fabric, both on outer layer as well as backing, reduces the environmental impact of fabric production more than 75% reduced GHG emission and a wastewater reduction of 84% compared to use of virgin polyamide. Bergans have also worked a lot together with their inhouse repair department to make sure to avoid week points on the garments and used design that is easy to repair if something should happen to the garment.
The circular economy approach for Bergans products includes several consumers faced services like Rental, Repair, product Return and Re-sales as well as a Redesign program – all named “Long live the Product”.
Bergans offers a product-take-back system for all our customers in the Norwegian market. Products are either re-sold, donated to charity or the material will be used and re-purposed for our re-design products or taken back into a recycling loop where possible. Even if this product is not 100 % mono-material Bergans work towards limiting the amount of different raw materials. Since this jacket avoids any unnecessary details, these won’t interfere with any recycling options.

I love all kinds of activities – especially if I haven’t tried them before! I’m curious by nature and love to explore both myself, nature and new things. If I had to pick one activity I would say long-distance hiking in the mountains.
What’s your main contribution of being in the Jury do you think?
Spending a lot of time in nature on different adventures gives me an idea of what functions that are really appreciated and helpful in the products and not only a “cool feature”. When I pick products for my own adventures I am very picky and look at both functionality, sustainability, quality, weight, comfort, price etc and I think all of this is important for a winner as well. I will also look for how the brand have adapted the products for the female body (if applicable) or if they only produce products by male standards.

What’s your main contribution of being in the Jury do you think?
The variety of gear that I used and that I am interested in. My outdoor career started at age 6 with the boy scouts, led to a job in outdoor retail, followed me e.g. along the Pacific Crest Trail and brought me to managing outdoor programmes for Outward Bound. Gear is important but more so is the person using it.

What’s your main contribution of being in the Jury do you think?
The origin story for our brand is as organic as it gets. Our family and moved to Oslo for additional legal education after we spent 17 years in the litigation trenches. As we lived in Norway we discovered: 1. Norwegians and Coloradans dress the same way, quasi-technical almost all the time. 2. The brands from Scandinavia make the best clothing in the world. When we returned to Colorado we decided to bring those clothes to the United States, first through a website (aktivstyle.com) and later to a store in the Denver Metro area. For the jury, we think our background will bring a fresh perspective to the review as we pick clothing for the store that is built well, is sustainable, technical but also at home with everyday wear.
Design: CAKE
Category: Hardware
Product weight: 63 kg + 17 kg battery
CAKE have developed a bike from scratch, a light and silent electric bike with a unique design. It’s a new category for the branch and their goal is to inspire people, contribute to speed up the journey towards a zero-emission society, combining excitement with responsibility. This is the latest model out on the market, Kalk AP (anti-poaching).
Light, quiet and clean! No compromises: Everything, from frame, to wheels, components, suspension and drive train have been specifically engineered and manufactured to reach the intended level of performance in riding, durability and overall quality.
BIKES AGAINST POACHING. Poaching has devastating consequences for all wildlife all over the world. In some instances, it is the primary reason why a species faces the risk of extinction. Contrary to general perception, one of the strongest reasons for poaching is due to poverty and the need for food among local inhabitants.
Areas with widespread poaching are often large, remote, and lacking roads, making patrolling by car virtually impossible. Recently, anti-poaching teams have started using dirt bikes for patrolling; and it has proven to be highly successful. These bush bikes, however, run on gasoline. And, depending on the location, this fuel is brought in by truck or by air. Although the motorcycle approach has proven highly successful, the roaring motorcycles unfortunately alert poachers miles away, decreasing the chances of catching them.
Also, a noise and fume-free bikes that consider the environment, wildlife and fellow individuals that share the backcountry, opens up for more sustainable, respectful and active discovery.
A circular system for environmental and business permanence. In the merge between ultimate performance and sustainability, Cake have chosen to build the structure of the bike in aluminium. In regards to sustainability, despite the success of recycling aluminium in general, the alloys being used, need to be sorted/graded by alu quality before melting/recycling due to their different mix and content. Therefore, all alloy parts are marked with their specific quality/number, for pronounced separation when disassembling, before melting and recycling, maintaining its specific quality as well as its specific pricing.
CAKE has started a partnership between the Southern African Wildlife College and solar power solution leader, Goal Zero. Together they have joined forces and efforts to protect endangered species from poaching.
To continue to promote and build the fleet of motorbikes and solar power stations in Africa, the initial offer is a charity combo. A limited edition of 50 bikes will be offered the first year.
The combo meaning that each purchase is a price reduced bundle of two CAKE Kalk APs and a solar power station along with solar panels from Goal Zero. The buyer gets one bike, the other twin bike, together with the solar power station and solar panels, is handed over to the Southern African Wildlife College, as a gift.
All bikes are 100% electric. No fume or pollution. All bikes can be recycled and rebuild. All bikes are driven by the power from the sun. All fenders and other plastic in natural fiber reinforced biocomposite from Trifilon.
Stefan Ytterborn, the CEO & Founder of CAKE met Anton Ströberg through mutual friends and Anton was invited for riding at CAKE’s test facility at the Island of Gotland. With the overwhelming experience and Anton’s long connection to wildlife protection and bio conservation on the African continent, he gets back to Stefan with the idea of combining his expertise together with his new experience of quiet, electric, CAKE motorcycles.
Illegal poaching of sacred creatures happens all over the world, and the fight has been going on for a long time. motorcycles are the most agile and fastest vehicle in the woods, and the vehicle in the forefront to stop and combat illegal poaching. In order to keep the bikes running a big amount of fuel is needed. Fuel is a limited resource and means long fuel transportations, by combustion engine vehicles to get it delivered.
The solution? Fully charged electric motorcycles from the sun! Thanks to off-grid solar panels, together with high performance, electric off-road motorcycles, it enables rangers to operate without sound or fumes, in quietness successfully sneak up and stop the illegal operations.
Available in stores: January 2021
Recommended retail price: The normal price for the bundle is 320 000 SEK. Charity price is 250 000 SEK. One purchase = Two bikes + one solar kit.
(The buyer gets one bike, the other twin bike, together with the solar power station and solar panels is handed over to the Southern African Wildlife College, as a gift. CAKE and Goal Zero give away their margin, while the buyer gets to share one bike and a solar power station.)

How wonderful would it be if a consumer could check the sustainability claims that any manufacturer makes? The Swedish shoe manufacturer Icebug has the answer in the “Follow the Footprint” concept. For this, Icebug teamed up with the Swedish traceability system TrusTrace. “The concept is very user friendly”, one jury member stated. Take your smartphone, scan the QR-code on the Icebug shoe box and the consumer gets all the information on: the CO2 footprint, the percentage of recycled material and the percentage of the biobased materials that are used in the product. It also shows the product journey. With Follow the Footprints a new step has been made in the traceability of sustainability claims. Hopefully this platform will be replicated by many more!
Making key sustainability claims checkable - to our best knowlegde the first time for a performance footwear brand.
Starting from the product (and for all products in the Icebug range), Icebug make the key sustainability indicators available in a transparent and traceable way, trying to stay as true as possible to measuring real impact:
- CO2 footprint
- % recycled material (weight based for entire product)
- % biobased materials (weight based for entire product)
They also open their supply chain - at least Tier 1-3 factories from the start - to earn trust with transparency and traceability.
In store: With a smart phone, the key sustainability indicators and the supply chain will be at the fingertips for a customer, scanning the QR-code on the product or the shoe box.
Online: The KSI and supply chain will be accessible by clicking a link.
The Icebug highlights includes being the first climate positive outdoor footwear brand (according to the UNFCC) and being the first outdoor footwear brands that is a 1% for the planet member. And with this concept they could be the first outdoor brand to publish climate footprint in combination with supplier traceability, for all their styles.
Available in stores: With QR codes on all products from August 2021. By link for all products from March 2021.
Design: Aclima
Category: Apparel
Product material: Woven fabric: 70% Wool (recycled Merino wool) and 30% Polyamide (recycled, GRS-certified)
Product weight: 110 g/m2 (fabric weight)
LeisureWool ReBorn is the first Aclima shirt made from 100% recycled materials. The wool they have used to produce this shirt has been ‘reborn’ by shredding leftover fabric from their own sewing factory, Aclima Baltic in Valga, Estonia. These fibres have been spun into a new yarn made from 70% recycled Merino wool and 30% recycled polyamide. Aclima have paid particular attention to all the details: the buttons are made from coconut shells and the sewing thread is made from recycled polyester. The shirt is highly durable and comfortable with functional details such as the two chest pockets, darts at back for better movement and reinforced shoulders. The shirt is made in loose fit for optimal movability.
The fabric is developed together with Pontetorto and Omega Filati, in Prato, Italy. Cut offs from their own production in Aclima Baltic in Estonia was sorted according to colour and sent to Prato for recycling. Omega Filati has recycled the cut offs to yarn, and Pontetorto has woven the material. 70% is wool (recycled Merino) and 30% is polyamide (recycled). Several trials were made, starting with pure wool, then adding recycled polyamide to find a blend that was strong and functional for both production and end use. The wool is not re-dyed, the colours are a result of combining the cut offs, and the melange effect is from the polyamide added.
A classic timeless outdoor shirt with durable functionality and multipurpose use. The ReBorn shirt has a soft and cozy appearance and the properties of a technical mid-layer. In addition, the shirt is ideal as a light outer layer on warmer days.
Recycled Merino wool from cut offs from Aclima’s production, re-use of leftover materials. Products that have function and purpose, and a long field test period to ensure quality. Timeless design and products with long lives and much wear.

Category: Hardware
Product material: Steel, ash wood and felt
Product weight: 500 g
Produced by the Norwegian Øyo this small axe has the design of a 1000-year-old Norwegian Viking Axe hence the name Øyo Vikingøks. It measures a dainty 33 cm in length and it weighs a meager 545 grams, but the jury was surprised by the punch the Øyo Vikingøks delivers. “It chopped through large pieces of dried oak with great ease”, one jury member states. The axe head is made from hardwearing and durable forged steel and the shaft is crafted from ash. The curved shape of the shaft prevents the axe from slipping whether splitting small logs or cutting up kindling. Perfect for bushcraft, wild camps and bonfires at the seaside. The jury loves the price, too!
Making firewood and cutting branches. Low weight and practical to carry.
The axe head is formed for perfect cutting. The shaft is curved to give you a steady grip and better force when chopping.
The Viking Axe is a versatile and good-looking hobby axe that easily fits in a backpack. Fitted leather sheath is included for protection.
The product is very durable. The axe will never reach an end of use stage, since you can grind the edge and replace the shaft. The shaft is made of environmentally friendly ash.
The focus on product development enhance the importance of choosing sustainable materials. Øyo have over the past few years replaced red listed wood with sustainable alternatives. They focus on developing packaging that is a part of the product instead of something that will be thrown away. The focus on systematic integration of sustainability in their business starts with product development. This is a continuous journey – always looking for better solutions and more sustainable materials.

Product material: Spinnova/tencel/cotton/wood (olive)
(The fabric is woven on an organic cotton warp as there does not yet exist enough Spinnova yarn to make an industrially sized warp beam)
Product weight: 600 g (XS) / 700 g (L)
Last winter the jury gave the Sustainability Award to the future.labs 05.A backpack, an urban style backpack made from fully sustainable and circular Spinnova material. With the 05.B Anorak the proof is in the pudding. The material – a mix of Spinnova fibres, Tencel and Organic Cotton – is lovely to touch and the jacket itself looks great. To make the fabric water resistant, it is treated with a traditional Halley Stevensons wax that does not compromise the circularity of the anorak. Re-waxing can be done by the consumer as needed. Bergans has taken the concept of circularity to the next level.
A fully circular anorak with a fully circular business model.
The world’s first jacket with Spinnova materials – including materials recycled (post-consumer) from last year’s “The Collection of Tomorrow” backpacks. Fully recyclable into new Spinnova materials without any disassembly.
The anorak is part of “The Collection of Tomorrow”, an experiment into circular business models with emphasis on the value of resources. Owners of existing “Collection of Tomorrow” products can return their product for recycling and only pay for the manufacturing of the anorak (as they have already paid for the material). The “Collection of Tomorrow” is a collaboration of bergans.future.labs – Bergans of Norway’s innovation lab and Spinnova, and this is their third product.
Outdoor and urban activities.
100% recyclable into Spinnova resource stream. Spinnova technology is still under development, but preliminary tests show increase in performance after recycling
Spinnova fibre is classified as natural paper fibre (not man-made). The Spinnova technology is mechanical and uses no harsh chemicals (as opposed to viscose/lyocell/tencel). Only by-product of the fibre process is evaporated water (which is collected and re-used). The fabric is treated with a traditional wax from Halley Stevensons and can be re-waxed by the consumer as needed. The wax does not break the circularity of the product. The anorak will be made as one dyed colorway and one completely undyed colorway.
Although not mono-material from a manufacturing side, this product is mono-material where it matters the most – from the recycling side. The anorak can be recycled without disassembly into new Spinnova material without the use of harsh chemicals.
As part of “The Collection of Tomorrow”, the Anorak is priced as 200€ in materials and 150€ in manufacturing. Owners of existing “Collection of Tomorrow” products can return their products at the end of their life to bergans.future.labs where they will be recycled into new Spinnova material. Having already paid for the material, the Anorak price will be similarly reduced.

They chose materials like stainless steel, cork and a strong webbing, which are coming by 90% already of the recycled products. Producing products with care, with the focus on a low on energy consumption. All Primus products are created on the ELA – life cycle assessment – the products itself are energy efficient. The Klunken bottle itself helps to reduce plastic waste by using the sustainable bottle instead of disposable plastic bottles.
Steel is mostly iron that is fused with carbon and other substances. Stainless steel usually has a high proportion of chromium and nickel to prevent the material from oxidizing and decomposing in contact with water and oxygen. The advantage of steel is that it is an extremely durable material that can withstand high temperatures at a relatively low price. Stainless steel usually does not react with other substances and has a high resistance to rust. It is therefore easy to keep clean and does not give off any flavors. These are features that make stainless products lifelong companions that are also 100% recyclable. Today, around 90% of the material is recycled globally. On average, a product containing stainless steel has 60% recycled material. If steel is recycled, it requires approximately 75% less energy than new production.
Cork production is considered sustainable as the cork tree is not cut down to extract the material, it is only the bark that is torn off in a way that the tree continues to live and grow. Cork as a material has excellent insulating properties, does not conduct heat very well and is moisture resistant, which makes it a very useful material.
Why the name Rainbow Klunken? The word Klunken is derived from the Swedish verb ‘klunka’, which means ‘glug’ – the hollow, gurgling sound that is heard when liquid is poured from a bottle. Rainbow as a sign of the Rainbow as symbol, which in numerous cultures around the world stands for awakening, change and peace, and is considered a sign of tolerance and acceptance, of the diversity of life forms, of hope and longing.
Primus initiate, with every Klunken Rainbow bottle they sell, to support the organization IGLYO with 1 Euro. IGLYO is an International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Youth & Student network organization in over 40 countries.

Seger Heat Thin: 67% Recycled Polyamid, 27% Merino Wool, 3% Lycra, 3% Conductive Materials
The most advanced heated sock on the market helps enthusiasts enjoy their outdoor endeavors longer, with higher levels of comfort and heating control, and up to 14 hours of battery time.
• Sock features:
The active heating system is added without compromising the sock’s technical performance characteristics in any way. Around-the-toes heating zone for even, pleasing heat on the tops, sides and bottom of toe box area. The larger surface area of heating materials allows more overall heat to be delivered to warm the toes, but at a lower, safer temperature for the skin. The thin heating technology is seamlessly integrated into the sock with soft heating yarns knitted directly into the sock, for added comfort, visual appeal and durability. A yarn-based connector tape carries energy from the powerpack to the heating zone in a thin, flexible design that does not compromise wear comfort. The smart connector that attaches to the top of the sock contains a hidden NFC tag that instructs the powerpack specifically how to power the Seger socks for level 1 to 10 and high/medium/low heat.
• PowerPack (smart battery) features:
Sophisticated electronics maintain the heating wattage requested until the battery is exhausted. Competitive systems suffer from reducing heating power as the battery drains. The heating levels are easy to control with the large push button on the PowerPack, even wearing insulated gloves and pushing the button through thick pants. Tactile vibrator provides intuitive haptic feedback of the heat level when the PowerPack can’t be seen under pants and other clothing layers. Waterproof to 60 meters. Magnetic connectors to attach to the sock, with no power plugs or connection points that can fail.
• Mobile App Features:
Guaranteed heating time promise: Tell the app how long you need guaranteed heat, and the app helps set the highest power output that promises the battery will not die before the time requested. Ten (10) levels of heat granularity to find the optimal heat setting for the user. Heat boost features up to 5 minutes of an extra heat blast above high heat for quickly warming up your feet when putting on cold shoes. Motion control feature an optional feature that adjusts the heat levels automatically depending on your activity level – increasing the heat when in low or no-motion conditions and lowering the heat when active.
This product is mainly developed for outdoor activities in the style of alpine skiing and snowboarding but works at least as well for hunting or other activities that are practiced in cold conditions.
The sock is made in Sweden, a fossil-free factory that is operated 100% by certified wind power. Made of mulesing-free Merino wool and RecoNylon/Polyamides (Reco 100% recycled nylon from industrial textile waste). The production of their polyamide wire reduces the use of resources, such as water, chemicals and electricity, by an average of 89% compared with the production of ordinary polyamide.

Product material: Natural performance of Ventile cotton, which is made from sustainably grown organic certified cottons that have not been exposed to pesticides or chemical fertilizers and use low-impact processing methods and materials.
Statement from the jury:
The Apparel Award is for a women’s only product and is awarded to the Sasta Peski W Jacket. The jacket is made from Ventile Organic, a sustainably grown certified organic cotton that is free from the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers and is produced in Switzerland. The material has a nice soft touch, resists rain, and the women’s specific fit is excellent. “The diagonal zipper is comfy because I don’t have the zipper garage in my chin anymore”, one jury member states. Thanks to taped seams and the large hood with flap it has proven to be an excellent shelter in rain, sleet and snow.
Utilizing the natural performance of Ventile as the main material. Ventile is a densely woven, very breathable and durable fabric from 100% cotton. Ventile is not coated or laminated, instead, the cotton fibres swell when wet, making the fabric tight and water-repellent. Thus, the fabric provides excellent protection against wind, rain, snow, and cold.
With the continuous hype of new and technical materials and innovations, Sasta want to keep functional natural materials, such as Ventile cotton, that they have worked with for many decades.
The jacket is designed for year-around use as a non-membrane technical trekking jacket for women. The natural performance of Ventile provides with exceptional breathability while also providing wind proofness and weather proofness. This makes the products very versatile and a good option for demanding hiking, expeditions or working outdoors.
Natural performance of Ventile cotton, which is made from sustainably grown organic certified cottons that have not been exposed to pesticides or chemical fertilizers and use low-impact processing methods and materials. Ventile Organic is woven from premium extra-long-staple cotton that represents only 0.04% of the overall cotton produced worldwide. This unique fully twisted cotton yarn increases garment durability and lifespan. All this combined with the functional and timeless design.
As standard, Ventile Organic is produced using PFC-free Durable Water Repellency (DWR). Ventile Organic Fabric is GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard) certified with additional GOTS production guarantees for weaving and finishing.
Sasta have provided a repair-service for now over 50 year for all their garments. They believe in taking full-mileage of their products and to extend the lifespan as much as possible – and to stay away from disposable fast-fashion thinking.
Sasta has worked for many decades with Ventile, making some innovative products that are still in their collection. As a starting point they wanted to create a technical trekking jacket for women out of Ventile, that would pair with their Award-winning Taiga Jacket. The Peski W follows the philosophy of the Taiga jacket, but with completely unique patterns to provide better fit and function for women users – a minimalistic, yet highly functional, hiking jacket that has nothing too much and isn’t missing anything.

Unique Kånken backpack made from an innovative 100% bio-based fabric.
Tree-Kånken explores alternatives to fossil-based materials by introducing the lyocell process into the hardware sector. This unique Kånken backpack is made from Pine Weave, a new 100% plant-based fabric made from spruce and pine trees sustainably grown in northern Sweden. It is a Kånken that dreams big, with the same reliable Fjällräven functionality you’ve come to expect from any Fjällräven product.
The backpack combines the iconic Kånken simplicity with slightly altered details that give Tree-Kånken its own identity. With a printed, reflective logo, flat front pocket and straps for securing items underneath. The fabric is waxed with a new and fluorocarbon-free special formula for a nice pre-washed look.
Carrying everyday essentials to work/school or extras on a short hike.
Using a 100% renewable, bio-based raw material taken from sustainably grown spruce and pine trees, Tree-Kånken introduces the lyocell process to the hardware sector. To create the excellent, durable filament yarn required for backpack fabrics, production includes strict controls on raw materials (pulp) and processes.
Also, the weaving method is very unusual for lyocell materials and results in a strong, abrasion-resistant fabric. Using muted colours in the final product means less chemicals and reduce the concentration of dyes. This also means reduced heat, water and chemical consumption in the dyeing process.
Fibre to fabric production using a lyocell process means 99.6% of the chemicals and 91% of the water is recycled. The dyeing process uses Bluesign certified dyes and is simplified so water and energy use are radically reduced.
The Pine Weave is durable by the construction (weaving method) and longevity is further enhanced by using a water-based PU coating, which is combined with wax (solvent-free recipe) to give an attractive patina.
Fjällräven started the Tree-Kånken project to see if they could improve on how to make an existing product and explore alternatives to fossil-based raw materials.
Using trees grown close to the Fjällräven hometown in northern Sweden, they have volume-based traceability from tree to fabric and full supply chain control.
Pine Weave has a very long lifespan, the development process includes age testing that simulates a 5-year period and 250 hours of UV exposure. In addition, the sample fabric was placed on top of the roof for three months in Taiwan where their fabric mill is located to test its lifespan.
